CIAA´s Structure: How CIAA Organises its Work
The President On 16 July 2009, the CIAA Board elected its President, Jesús Serafín Pérez. » View Jesús Serafín Pérez Curriculum Vitae Board of Directors Who? The Board of Directors is composed of 17 Directors, all CEOs of Food & Drink companies, including the CEOs of 5 Small and Medium Sized Enterprises. What? The Board of Directors is CIAA’s policy-making body. It defines and decides the broad lines and strategic directions of the Association’s policies and priorities in accordance with the CIAA Road Map, which it submits to the General Assembly for approval. It also supervises and provides guidance to the Executive Committee. » Download CIAA Board of Directors members list Executive Committee Who? The Executive Committee is composed of 9 members including the President, the 3 Vice-Presidents and 5 other Directors as designated by the Board of Directors, reflecting, as much as possible, the general composition of the Board. What? The Executive Committee is responsible for managing the Association, and carrying out its activities in accordance with the policies and priorities defined by the Board of Directors, and in accordance with the Road Map. The Executive Committee prepares Board meetings and executes its decisions. It takes the lead in policy debates, and may set up one or more ‘Expert Groups’ to examine specific issues. » Download CIAA Executive Committee list
Who? The General Assembly is composed of all of the members of the organisation: National Federations, European sector associations and the European Committee of large food and drink companies (Liaison Committee). What? The General Assembly’s powers include approving the annual accounts, adopting the CIAA Roadmap and relevant budget and establishing internal rules of procedure. Following a proposal from the Board of Directors, the General Assembly also decides on the admission of Members and Observers, as well as the allocation of voting rights. Voting rights Each category of member has voting rights in CIAA’s General Assembly, currently allocated as follows:
Who? The Committee of Directors General (CDG) is composed of the Directors General/Secretaries General of each National Federation and each European sector association. What? The Committee of Directors General ensures smooth communication between the CIAA secretariat and it’s national and European Association members. It also handles issues of general interest that have either not been discussed or have not been resolved by the Committees and Expert Groups. It submits appropriate proposals to the Executive Committee in relation to the development of the Associations strategies and positions.
Who? The Committees and Expert Groups are composed of delegates from National Federations, European sector associations and from food and drink companies. What? These Committees and Expert Groups form the basis of CIAA’s activities. More than 700 food and drink experts work together to provide broad and in-depth expertise. They help to establish CIAA positions on key issues and put proposals to the Executive Committee on possible policy options. These Committees and Expert Groups are set up around the three following themes:
