Statistical data play a considerable role in the planning and implementation of EU policies.
The necessity to dispose of reliable and comparable was even recognized by the EU Heads of State and Government who included this principle in the Amsterdam Treaty.
As the voice of the food and drink industry in Europe, one of the missions of the CIAA is to contribute to a better knowledge of this sector across the EU and the member states. Collecting and providing data is therefore a priority.
