The Food and Drink Industry is striving to further its research and innovation efforts so that the consumer can benefit from products that contribute to a better quality of life and that have health benefits. The industry is convinced that a responsible use of biotechnological developments would benefit all actors of the food chain. The industry, therefore, favours a European policy that rewards research and promotes transparency, thus allowing the consumer to make an informed choice.
