On June 11, MEPs adopted in plenary a series of amendments to the Commission proposal for a directive on the indication of ingredients presents in the foodstuffs. This proposal mainly establishes a list of main allergens which always have to be labelled and deletes the 25% rule under which the individual ingredients of a compound ingredient do not have to be labelled. Most of the amendments aimed to increase the list of allergens and to suppress the technical adjustments introduced by the Commission in order to provide some flexibility to operators in the application of labelling rules.
