CIAA appoints new Director General
CIAA (Confederation of the Food and Drink Industries of the EU) today announced the appointment of Daniela Israelachwili as its next Director General. As from January 2005, she will succeed Raymond Destin following his retirement at the end of the year.
Italian by nationality and economist by training, Daniela Israelachwili was educated in Italy, the UK and Belgium where she began her career as a university assistant at the Bruges College of Europe. From 1987 until 2001 Ms. Israelachwili worked for the Brussels-based European business and employers� confederation (UNICE � Union of Industrial and Employers� Confederations of Europe) serving in different capacities, notably as director of the economic and financial affairs department, deputy and acting secretary general. She left UNICE to return to Italy in 2002 to work as a management and marketing consultant.
Jean Martin, President of the CIAA, stated: �I welcome Daniela Israelachwili�s appointment, confident that her long and broad-based experience of business associations as well as of European affairs will help to steer CIAA through a period of growth and further development in support of the European food and drink industry representation in Brussels�.
