CIAA And APCO Insight win European Excellence Award
(Brussels 6 January 2009) The Confederation of the Food and Drink Industry of the EU (CIAA) and APCO Insight have been awarded a European Excellence Award in the category ‘Food and Beverage’ for their work to showcase the efforts made by the food and drink industry to promote healthy lifestyles. CIAA asked APCO Insight to carry out a broad survey of food and drink industry commitments made to the EU Platform for Action on Diet, Physical Activity and Health to measure the extent and quality of industry efforts and activities to promote balanced diets and healthy lifestyles. High standards of both scientific reliability and political credibility had to be met by the research methodology. “This prize recognises the hard work of EU food and drink industry companies of all sizes,” said CIAA Director General Mella Frewen. “The APCO Insight study for CIAA provides the first ever benchmark of what the entire food and drink industry is currently doing for products and choice, for innovation and consumer information. The research covered over 2,000 food and drink producers – from large multinationals to small family-owned companies – and was conducted between November 2007 and mid-March 2008 in France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.” “We are proud to have developed a credible and objective methodology that shows the efforts being made to promote a balanced diet in Europe today,” explained Phil Riggins of APCO Insight. “This Excellence Award marks APCO Insight out as a leading provider of independent, industry-relevant research.” About the Excellence Awards The European Excellence Awards honour outstanding achievements in the communications profession on an international scale.
